Music In Detention
Music In Detention works through music to give voice to immigration detainees and create channels of communication between them, immigration and detention staff, local communities and the wider public.
Drum Runners are a delivery partner for MID and currently work regularly in Immigration Removal Centres (IRC's) in Gosport and Bedford as well as on community exchange projects within their local communities to bring the two together through artistic expression. In addition to working regularly in these two IRC's, Drum Runners also work in other IRC's including Oxfordshire, Yorkshire, Dover and Middlesex.
Our work encourages positive expressions through a universal language of music.
We recognise the common bond of creativity in all people and extend detainees skills and confidence using our team of artists who have an extensive knowledge and experience of working with diverse and excluded communities.
We also promote positive perceptions through the community exchange projects using a variety of performances, joint recordings and co-ordinated events.
